philosophy of photography:

back to Photos365.org

it's about contributing to the conversation,

by discovering the extraordinary,

within the ordinary.

it's about "seeing things"...

perhaps for the first time, or in a new way.

literally through lenses.

figuratively despite filters.

 with a different focus.

it's about perception, persuasion, communication, and inspiration.

it's about moments capturing an elusive moment of truth.

it's about seeking "images" of music, marketing, and motivation; or religion, rock-n-roll, and recovery in pictures... perhaps with words and music.

imagination = imagine = re-imagine = image.

the world is full of images; some we find; some find us.

the world is full of pictures; some get taken; some take us.

the world is full of shots; some we take; some get taken.

it's about the composition.

it's about the subject and the subject's setting.

it's about timing and the time of day.

it's about the lighting and enlightenment.

it's about the angle, the perspective and the patience.

and yes, it's also about the camera and the camera settings.

the best musicians can have the best recording equipment, but without a great song to record, it doesn't really matter.

the best photographers don't necessarily have the best equipment...

they strive to "see" ...

the best subject matter.

it's first about the what and then the how.

taking pictures of what gets taken for granted...

why I love it:

photography forces me into the present moment.

to be ultra-aware of the here and now.

back from the past and far from the future.

to uncover the clarity of my reality in the moment.

to see the unseen.

right here, right now.

it's an art and a science.

it's technical and creative.

it's literal.

it's symbolic.

it's instant.

it's varied.

it's imaginative.

it's intuitive.

it's inspirational.

about me:

I'm driven.

I'm sensitive.

I'm observant.

I'm aware.

Very aware.

I like to be pioneering, different, & trailblazing.

I’m always looking for the "other bathroom."

I don’t want to invent a different bathroom necessarily.

I just want to seek out and find another bathroom that few others are using.

I like to veer off the beaten path.

I like to pursue that which few others do.

I believe I can do most anything I set my mind to.

I have a strong need to be recognized as impressive, smart and set apart.

I sometimes worry about what others think of me, though I usually believe most think well of me and my abilities.

I'm a realistic optimist.

Which means I believe in the good that comes from the work.

I aspire to inspire.
